Best Ever Lasagna!

This lasagna is sure to be a hit, you'll have people asking for the recipe left and right!

I've been perfecting my lasagna recipe for years and I finally feel ready to share it. I remember my first attempt at making it when I was in high school. The noddles were crisp and there wasn't near enough sauce. My dad was the only one who ate it! Flash forward over a decade and it's my most requested meal from family and friends.

My most tried and true recipe.

This is my 'baby meal.' I send this to families with new little ones, housewarmings, and anything in between. It makes several servings (6-8), freezes well, and is an excellent leftover for lunch. Try this meal today, you and your family will be sure to love it!

Best Ever Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 package lasagna noodles

  • 1 pound italian sausage (mild or hot)

  • 2 eggs

  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese

  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning

  • 15 ounces of ricotta cheese

  • 2-28 ounce jar of marinara sauce (Rao's preferred)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9x13 casserole dish.

  2. Brown italian sausage in pan, once fully cooked add one jar of marinara, set to low and allow to simmer.

  3. While sauce is simmering, combine ricotta, eggs, italian seasoning, and 2 ounces of mozzarella.

  4. Line the bottom of the casserole dish with the other jar of marinara sauce, just enough to provide a light layer. Top layer with lasagna noodles-no need to bake.

  5. Top noodles with ricotta mixture, layer noodles, meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, noodles, meat sauce, and noodles.

  6. Then add the rest of the marinara sauce to the top of the noodles, cover with mozzarella cheese.

  7. Cover dish with foil and place in oven for 50 minutes.

  8. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes. You can broil the lasanga on high for a minute if desired, be sure to watch closely!

If you want to freeze this dish complete steps 1-6, cover with foil and saran wrap to store. When ready to bake, defrost lasagna in the fridge overnight. Bake at 375 covered for 60 minutes, uncovered for 10. Make sure lasagna reaches 165 degrees before serving.
