Iced tea is a staple in my house, no matter the season or weather, I start my day with a tall glass of iced tea.
There are two great things about brewing your iced tea at home; saving money and customizing the sweetness. A box of tea bags costs around $3 and lasts for about two months at my house! Much more affordable then stopping at a drive-thru everyday.
Refreshing and Crisp
You can make this tea sweeter than pie or omit the sugar all together! It's totally up to you. I use 1/4 cup of sugar and that is comparable to a half cut tea. I would double if you want a full sweet tea.
The Ultimate Iced Tea
Ingredients
1/4 cup sugar
3 bags of black tea
1.5 quarts of water
1 pitcher filled with ice
Directions
.
Bring the water to a boil on the stove.
Once boiling add the tea bags and turn off the heat. Once it's steeped remove the bags and add in desired amount of sugar and stir until mixed.
Very carefully pour your tea mixture into the ice filled pitcher. I typically do this in the sink to minimize spills. Be aware if using a glass pitcher to wait until the tea fully cools down before adding to the ice, otherwise the pitcher may crack and break.
Pour tea over ice and enjoy!
